Information Security Executive® (ISE®) West Award Winners Announced

McKesson, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Rimini Street Bring Home Top Honors in 2011

Atlanta, GA (August 11, 2011) – T.E.N.-Tech Exec Networks, Inc. announced finalists and winners last evening for the ISE® West Awards 2011. Awards for both Executive and Project categories were presented at a dinner gala at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, CA.  The awards recognize outstanding achievements in risk management, data asset protection, compliance, and privacy and network security.

This year’s Executive recipient of the ISE Award was Mike Wilson, VP, CISO, McKesson. Wilson was recognized for promoting the use of security to create innovative solutions for McKesson’s business units and their customers, as well as his high level of industry involvement supporting key security organizations and events such as the CISO Executive Summit (San Francisco).

Finalists for the Executive of the Year category were also recognized during the awards program for their achievements in the industry. They included: Jamil Farshchi, CISO, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Spencer Mott, CISO, Electronic Arts.

The Information Security Project of the Year Award was awarded to Los Alamos National Laboratory for CSIRT Transformation.” Accepting on behalf of the project team was Jamil Farshchi, CISO, Los Alamos National Laboratory. Representing one of world’s largest science and technology institutions, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) transformation project restructured and enhanced the program to significantly increase the likelihood of event detection and reduce the incident response time frame in all of its phases.

Finalists for the Information Security Project of the Year Award included Kaiser Permanente, for their “Operational Risk Management Project” project, and Paramount Pictures, for their “Video Lifecycle Management” project.

As part of the evening’s recognition, Steven Salaets, Director of Global Security and Compliance, Rimini Street, was announced as the ISE® West People’s Choice Award Winner. The award represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by the registered attendees.
