Loren Morgan currently serves as the CISO for Owens & Minor in Mechanicsville VA, a healthcare logistics company specializing in contracting packages of healthcare products for hospitals. Loren leads the Cyber Security program providing data protection for our teammates, clients and customers.

Loren is originally from a coastal town located in Oregon, North Bend. Immediately after graduating from high school, Loren entered the U.S. Army and served 20 years of active federal service before retiring in 2005. During his time in the military, Loren’s duty assignments included The Presidential Honor Guard ‘The Old Guard’ Washington D.C., the 504th Signal Battalion at Fort Huachuca AZ, the 2/1 Light Infantry Unit assigned to a Multinational Piece Keeping Force in Sinai Egypt, and numerous others. Over Loren’s 20 years of active service, he was presented four Meritorious Service Medals (This award is usually presented once in a career upon retirement) and a list of other medals and skills devices too numerous to list here.

In 2005, Loren entered the civilian workforce as the on-site Network Executive for Capital One Bank where he managed the Network, Network Security, Network Architecture and Network Capacity Teams until 2010. From 2010 to 2011, He served as Vice President over the Network Triage and Incident Management for Bank of America.

In 2011, Capital One Bank persuaded Loren to return to serve as the Program Manager providing oversight of the PCI DSS program until completion & certification in 2012.

In 2012, Loren served as the Director of Delivery for Strategic Solutions of Virginia. He was tasked to advance this medium sized MSP (Managed Services Provider) to one of the largest HIPAA compliant MSPs on the east coast supporting major hospitals and clinics, and he achieved this goal mid-year 2013.

Loren returned to Capital One Bank in 2013 as the Managing Director tasked to stand up the first Cybersecurity Intelligence Center. By 2015, he completed the implementation of both the primary and secondary Cybersecurity Intelligence Centers located in Washington D.C. and Nottingham, England. These Centers are comprised of multiple Cybersecurity teams such as Analysts, Threat Intelligence, CIRT, Red Team, Insider Threat and Hunt. Loren earned two ‘Circle of Excellence’ awards presented by the CEO for his work. In 2016, the CISO selected Loren to create a cyber-risk calculation tool designed to drive funding decisions and reduce risk throughout the enterprise. Loren remained on this project until his recent hiring as CISO at Owens & Minor in August of 2018.

Loren holds a BS in Management Studies from the University of Maryland.
