David Hannigan is a Managing Vice President of Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) for Capital One Financial Corporation, a diversified bank with 44 million customer accounts worldwide and 1,000 branch locations in New York, New Jersey, Texas, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Capital One's subsidiaries offer a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses and commercial clients through a variety of channels.

David serves as the Managing Vice President for the Security Engineering and Application Security organization. He is responsible for new security innovation and engineering solutions that securely enable the business needs.

Prior to joining Capital One, David was the CISO for Sears Holding responsible for protecting a complex global franchise consisting of 110,000 end users, 40 plus web sites and mobile apps, and thousands of servers with diverse international operations.

Prior to that, David was the CISO and Leader of Technical Operations for Zappos. There he helped Zappos move operations to the Amazon and AWS platforms, while also securing cutting edge technology for Zappos’ fast-paced organization and progressive culture. Prior to joining Zappos, David spent time securing global pharmaceutical organizations as well as financial services companies in roles including, CISO, security engineer, leader of security operations and compliance as well a consultant with the Ernst and Young national security practice.

David sits on a few advisory boards for security startups and is passionate about giving back to the security community. He is a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh and currently resides in Chicago with his partner, Daniel, and their dog, Baxter.
