Bill Burns is Informatica’s Chief Trust Officer and Vice President of Cloud Business Transformation. Reporting to Amit Walia, Informatica’s Chief Product Officer, Bill is charged with scaling Informatica’s cloud operations and security operations. He is also driving the company’s Cloud Transformation initiative and building a team to focus on Informatica’s cloud strategy to define and execute the company’s end-to-end Cloud Business Transformation. As part of these efforts, Bill is working closely with Informatica’s application security engineers and infrastructure operations team to represent the Informatica Cloud Trust Team. The charter for this team is to ensure that Informatica’s cloud products are secure, available and reliable.

Before stepping into his new role, Bill served as Informatica’s Chief Information Security Officer, building security programs for enterprises to trust Informatica’s new products and public cloud services.

Previously Bill worked at Scale Venture Partners to define their information security investment thesis, helping them make their first InfoSec investment in eight years. Earlier, Bill created the security program at Netflix as their Director of Information Security, where his teams helped transitioned their corporate and production systems to be all-cloud and supported Netflix's expansion from a US company to 41-country international business, while doubling revenue and subscriber growth. They helped Netflix take smart risks by emphasizing automation, technical innovation and building strong internal and vendor partnerships. His teams designed and ran virtualized PCI infrastructure before "virtualization" was a word in PCI-DSS, developed the first Amazon's CloudHSM to protect sensitive keys in IaaS, and deployed one of the largest hybrid cloud WAF networks. Bill's been granted two computer security patents, is an active advisor to several security startups, and is a member of the RSA Conference Program Committee. He has over 20 years of experience in security, specializing in cryptography and communications. Bill graduated from Michigan Technological University with electrical engineering and business degrees.
