The congressional citation and award was presented in conjunction with a video tribute and candle lighting ceremony for McCarthy’s distinguished service to the IT security industry. “This award is a tremendous honor for not just myself but also a reflection on my colleagues. Our company’s mission is to build relationships that help facilitate the ability of our IT security professionals to share information that empowers them to protect and arm our cyberspace. The ISE® Awards have not only drawn importance to the critical work of IT security professionals; they’ve also had an impact on the industry as a whole,” said McCarthy.

“I believe that the macro benefit of ISE® to overcoming cyber crime and malicious activity is sometimes lost. It is not just about recognizing information security executives, which is important, but Marci brings together Information Security Executives through her programs in ways no one else has been able to. T.E.N. provides a venue to build an effective network of security professionals that collaborate to address the latest threats and can be called on when faced with previously unseen issues. She has really built a national network of friends and colleagues,” said Tim Callahan, senior vice president, enterprise business continuity and information assurance, SunTrust.

McCarthy is the founder of T.E.N. and its flagship program, the Information Security Executive® (ISE®) of the Year Program Series. Now in its TENth year, the ISE® Program Series recognizes both information security executives and projects for outstanding achievements in risk management, data asset protection, compliance, privacy and network security in major U.S. cities. In addition, under McCarthy’s direction, the firm offers thought leadership and networking events that enable IT security professionals to exchange information about best practices and current technology solutions throughout the U.S. and Canada.

McCarthy currently serves on TechBridge's Board of Directors and has been a leader and board member of many prominent Atlanta organizations including Women In Technology (WIT), Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and SciTrek's Advisory Board of Directors.
