Ashley is the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Alabama. He joined UA in August of 2007. His responsibilities include managing a security team that provides an overall security strategy and roadmap, policy, compliance, incident handling, security operations, and security technology planning/implementation. He is co-chair of the PCI Compliance Committee along with the Director of Student Account Services, and is the UA HIPAA Security Officer. Ashley is also an instructor in the UA Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in the College of Continuing Studies, and an instructor of Cyber Information Security in the Honors College.

Ashley is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Prior to joining Alabama, he had a 34 year career in Atlanta with BellSouth Corporation where he spent his last 18 years in various security roles including chief security architect and overall director of security. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and is a founding and active member of the South East Higher ED Security Round Table. Ashley has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.
