Jay Schwitzgebel has worked in the Information Security field for over 17 years, having entered the field in the U.S. Air Force on the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT) at the Air Force Information Warfare Center, where he served as the Deputy Chief of Operations and provided bi-weekly briefings to the Commander, Air Intelligence Agency on the state of cyber security as monitored by the AFCERT. Jay left military service to create and lead Cigna’s then-new Computer Security & Incident Response Team and played a key role in the creation of HIPAA privacy and security compliance initiatives. After several security roles outside of healthcare, he came back to the healthcare industry as the Director, Information Security at CareSource in Dayton, OH, having responsibility for information security, IT controls governance, IT risk management, and IT compliance.

He moved his family to Tampa after having taken a role as Chief Information Security Officer at HealthPlan Services, where he is responsible for information security, IT controls governance, IT risk management, and IT compliance.  Jay earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and his MS in Engineering Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He became a CISSP in 2000, later adding the ISSMP concentration, CISM, and HIPAA Privacy and Security certifications.
